Bill Cowen is an Edmonton based photographer specializing in capturing people. Having owned cameras most of his life, it was while studying Broadcast Journalism at Toronto’s Seneca College in the early 90’s that Bill became serious about his craft. He went on to work as a news reporter for Toronto’s CHUM radio as well as Assignment Editor for A-Channel News in Edmonton and did an 8 year stint as co-host of the Terry, Bill and Steve morning show on 97.3 FM.

He has traveled from Montreal to San Diego, studying under some of photography’s most renowned names, like Joseph Simone and Bryan Peterson.

Equally comfortable in the studio or on location, Bill’s passion is seizing the decisive moment. Whether it’s a wedding, fashion show, award ceremony, concert or family portrait, Bill’s images put the viewer in that special moment.

In the short time he’s been a full time professional, Bill’s work has been seen on billboards across the province, he’s been published in the Toronto Star and most recently shot Miss Rodeo Canada for the cover of Canadian Cowboy Country magazine.

Bill has also shot and produced slideshow presentations for not for profit organizations including the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and the Valley Zoo Development Society.

When not behind the camera, Bill also appears on stage as a stand up comedian, something he’s done for the past 21 years.

Elaine Lafleche is Bill's assistant, second photographer on most weddings and more importantly his wife. She's an avid photographer and scrapbooker. When not doing either of those activities she teaches French Immersion to grade one students, and is involved with the Alberta Teacher's Association.
